Often lumped in as the younger sibling of St. Catharines, Thorold has a pride and character all its own. For example, for several years now, the town rallies to have more Canadian flags displayed per capita on Canada Day than any other town in Canada, earning the title as the country’s “Most Patriotic City”.
As with many of the municipalities in Niagara, Thorold is made up of several communities. These include Beaverdams, St. John’s, Allanburg, Turner’s Corners, Port Robinson, Thorold South and Thorold itself.
Throughout the municipality, you will find waterways, agriculture, conservation areas and city streets lined with some of the friendliest people around. Thorold is also one of 4 Niagara municipalities to be home to the Welland Canal, offering canal side walking and biking trails, and parklands to watch the ships pass by. Diverse and welcoming, Thorold is a great place to call home.
