COVID-Safe Activities to do in the Niagara Region this Winter!

If you’ve been cooped up in your house for a while, I’d say it’s about time to get out of
the house and do some “stay-cation” activities around Niagara this month.

Outdoor Skating

While indoor rinks are still closed, the recent consistent cold weather has made outdoor
skating the perfect way to get outside and get active. There are plenty of outdoor rinks
in the Niagara region, but a few of them include Hillary Bard Park in Beamsville, Port
Dalhousie Lion’s Park in St. Catharines, and the Lions Outdoor Skating Rink in Niagara
Falls.

GeoCaching

Another great outdoor activity is geocaching! If you haven’t heard of it – first of all, have
you been living under a rock? But geocaching is basically treasure hunting. People from
all over the world have hidden and found little “caches” which can come in any size,
from pinky sized nano-caches to boxes full of toys and gadgets. When you sign up with
an account at geocaching.com you can start looking for little treasures all around you.
There are roughly 3 million geocaches around the world, so you might as well get
started!

Tobogganing

While some of you may hate the snow, you can’t deny that it provides the perfect
opportunity to take the kids sledding! Tobogganing can be just as fun for the adults as it
is for the kids! This fun winter activity can provide you with hours of fun and laughter
and will leave the kids ready for a nap when you get home. If you go, don’t forget the
hot chocolate, snow pants, and mittens!

Winter Hiking

Hiking usually associated with the other warmer months of the year, but winter hiking
can also be just as fun! Not only will you get to see some amazing winter scenery, but
you will also work up a sweat, no matter how many layers you have on. So, if you
haven’t hiked part of the Bruce Trail yet, now is the time!

If you take up any of these activities, snap a pic and share it with us on Facebook or
Instagram @yourniagarahome ! We’d love to see your photos! Stay Safe!
