Winter months seem to be a busy time full of family, food and good times. The temperatures may be freezing, and here in Niagara we often have snow on the ground. Generally it doesn’t seem like it is a good time to buy a home at this time, but we have 5 reasons why it actually makes perfect sense.
MOTIVATED SELLERS. Homeowners who list their homes in winter usually need to move, say job relocation, and are more willing to negotiate. This is a buyer’s advantage!
BARGAIN PRICES. Winter months bring along lower temperatures and lower listing prices. Generally home prices are at an annual low during the winter and that means that you can increase your purchasing power. You probably can get more house for your money!
LITTLE COMPETITION. Fewer buyers mean less competition. Less competition means fewer chances of multiple offers on a single property.
SEASONAL PERSPECTIVE. Is the heating system functional and working properly? Did you feel a draft by a window? Did you feel cold in one of the rooms? You can consider these seasonal factors when you see a home on a chilly, winter day.
AVAILABILITY OF PROFESSIONALS. Lower activity during the winter months can mean that you receive more attention from your real estate agent. During the ‘slower’ months they can be more accessible for questions and assistance.
