Do a Spring Clean Up

A spring clean up is one of the first things you can do to get your yard ready for the warmer weather. A spring clean up involves raking up dead leaves and debris that were laying under the snow throughout the winter. Raking up all the leaves and debris that are scattered around your lawn can prepare the yard and garden for the rest of the season. Other aspects of spring clean up include garden cleanup, lawn maintenance, and pest/weed control.
Doing all of these things to clean up your yard will help make your garden look its best.

Weed Your Gardens

The next step in sprucing up your yard is to weed your gardens and get rid of anything that could take away from the plants. Weeds take a lot of the sunlight and nutrients away from your plants, so it’s great to get a head start and get rid of them before you plant your new flowers. You can weed by hand, or use a natural herbicide to control any weeds or pests that could hurt your garden. This is also a great opportunity to get your kids involved in the outdoor work and have them weed with you.

Start Planting Some New Seeds

Planting fresh flowers can bring new life to your garden. Especially if you choose plants and flowers that have lots of bright colours, you can easily transform your garden and make it an eye-catching piece of your back or front yard. You can use Pinterest, Instagram, or garden centres for inspiration for how you’d like to set up your garden. You may also want to use this opportunity to plant some vegetables or spices in your garden. Some options include tomatoes, lettuce, onions, peppers, or some mint. This can also be a great time to try out new flowers or plants that you haven’t planted before.

Lay Fresh Mulch

After you have planted your new seeds, you can start to lay some fresh mulch in your garden. Mulch can help improve the health of your soil and plants by improving its fertility and the conservation of moisture. Fresh mulch can also help refine the look of your garden and add some finishing touches.

Tend to Your Garden Regularly

The last and most important step in sprucing up your spring garden is to tend to it throughout the spring and summer seasons. You can put all this work into your garden, but it won’t be worth it unless you keep caring for the plants and soil throughout the year. While creation often provides your plants with the water and nutrients it needs to thrive, you may also want to stay on top of watering, weeding, and caring for your plants.
