Even though there’s less than a month left until back to school, you still have time to take
advantage of summer activities across the Niagara region. With Ontario on the verge of getting
back to normal, there are plenty of COVID-safe activities that you can plan for this summer.
Take advantage of the great weather and explore what Niagara has to offer with these activities
to check out this summer.

Hiking Trails

Hiking is a great activity for almost any weather. Especially in the summer, hiking trails can be
very popular and can be a great way to see God’s creation. Niagara is home to plenty of hiking
trails and even has sections of the Bruce Trail scattered throughout. The 900km trail is famous
for being Ontario’s oldest and longest trail. If you have been putting off hiking part of the trail,
now is the perfect time to do so!

Other hiking trails include Woodend Conservation Trail, Niagara Glen Nature Centre, and
Rockway Conservation Area. These trails are perfect for everyone! If you’re taking kids, there
are easier paths for you! If you’re an expert hiker, try out some of the tougher paths. Either way,
you’ll enjoy everything these paths have to offer.

Beaches

Even though it’s been a bit rainy and cloudy this summer, Ontario is still welcome to a heatwave
or two (or three?). When the heat hits, a beach day is a perfect way to cool off, spend some time
outside, and enjoy the Niagara region. Here are just a few of the amazing beach es you can
explore this summer:

Crystal Beach is a popular beach in Fort Erie. It’s home to golden sand, beautiful water, and
local shops or restaurants to visit while you’re there.

Port Dalhousie is another well-known beach in the Niagara region. Home to the carousel and
boat marina, Port Dalhousie is a sandy beach that everyone can enjoy. Within the park, you will
also find paddle board rentals, ice cream shops, cafes, and other fun activities.

Nickel Beach in Port Colborne is yet another great beach to head to on a hot day this summer.
Spend the day exploring Port Colborne and enjoy the beautiful scenery and sandy beach.
However, due to COVID, you will have to purchase a day pass if you are not from Port
Colborne.
